It starts with a conversation. You tell us what you have in mind, whether that is a clear picture or only a feeling, and we talk it through together.

From there we source your center stone, share detailed CAD renderings for your approval, and begin production once the design is settled. You will see final photos and videos before your piece ships.

Most custom projects are completed within six to eight weeks from the date your first deposit is paid. That timeline includes stone sourcing where applicable, design work, production, setting, and finishing.

Particularly intricate designs, specialty stone cuts, or unusually difficult-to-source stones may need a little longer. Any timeframe we give you is an estimate rather than a guaranteed date, and we will always keep you informed if a project is running long.

Custom projects are quoted as a single total price inclusive of design work, materials, and production.

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to begin the custom design process, and the remaining 50% is due after you have approved the final photos and videos, before your piece ships.

Payment of the deposit initiates your project. The deposit applies to the custom project as a whole, including design and CAD work, stone sourcing where applicable, materials, and production, and it applies equally to projects using a stone you already own.

We understand that plans can change. If you choose to cancel a custom project, your deposit is non-refundable and you will not be responsible for the remaining balance.

If you cancel before approving the final CAD, your deposit will remain available as a credit toward another custom project or a ready-to-ship piece for six months from the date of cancellation. Any purchase made using this credit will be considered final sale. If the credit is not used within six months, the deposit will be forfeited.

Once you have approved the final CAD, the project moves into production. If you cancel after final CAD approval, your deposit will be retained in full and will not be available as credit.

If you have provided your own center stone, it will be returned fully insured with tracking and signature required. If you cancel before final CAD approval, return shipping will be deducted from your deposit and the remaining amount will stay available as your credit. If you cancel after final CAD approval, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from the deposit being retained.

Every custom project includes up to five CAD revisions at no additional cost. Additional revisions are available at $60 each.

In practice, most projects settle well within five. The revisions are there so you never feel rushed into approving something that is not quite right.

Yes, and we love these projects. Resetting a stone that already carries meaning is some of the most rewarding work we do.

We will review your stone before accepting it to make sure it can be safely reset, and we will talk you through the details beforehand. Projects using your own stone follow the same custom order terms as any other commission.

Yes. We work with both, and we are glad to talk through the difference in cost, sourcing, and character so you can decide what feels right for your piece.

Sizing at the time of purchase is complimentary. Resizing or repair work requested after delivery is a paid service, priced according to the work involved.

You are also welcome to have routine resizing or repairs done by a qualified local bench jeweler. Doing so does not void your Ruby Harper warranty, though damage resulting from another jeweler's work is not covered.

Some designs, particularly those with hand engraving or stones set along the band, cannot be resized without interrupting the design. Where that applies, we will tell you before production begins.

Eligible custom and ready-to-ship pieces are covered by a two-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects.

Normal wear, accidental damage, and loss are not covered, and vintage pieces are sold as-is. Full details are in our Warranty & Care policy, and we recommend independent jewelry insurance for anything the warranty cannot cover.

Our diamonds and gemstones are sourced for Ruby Harper pieces rather than sold individually. If you have found a stone you love, we would be glad to design something around it.
